Using Values to Drive the Business and the Family

Speakers: Martha Siemer SticeHenry Siemer and Katie Siemer - Siemer Milling Company

Do the values of a family determine the way the business is run or is it the founder’s values?  Are family values and business values the same thing?  Do values stay the same over generations?  How do values show up in the family business and family governance?

In this lively discussion, we will explore different perspectives with 3 family members from the Siemer Milling Company.   Join this session for concrete examples of infusing respect, trust and responsibility in governance and the business.

Transforming and Innovating for Future Generations

Today the company also has offices in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and San Francisco.  We store over a million cases of wine on behalf of our customers, we run a Wine School and an exclusive fine wine and dining venue from our home in St James’s. We are honored to hold two Royal Warrants for H.M. The Queen and H.R.H. The Prince of Wales.

The Pacari Journey and Chocolate Tasting Experience

Speakers: Santiago Peralta and Carla Barboto - Pacari Chocolate

One way to pass on the family business legacy is through next generation entrepreneurship. In this session, you will hear from a dynamic husband and wife team, Santiago Peralta and Carla Barboto.  As NxG’s, they followed their passion and forged their own path to start a business with purpose.  It’s called Pacari, an organic chocolate manufacturing company founded on sustainability principles.  This is a story about determination.  A story about change. A story about sustainability.

Pacari has become the trailblazer for Ecuadorian chocolate in many ways and has received many international awards for their efforts and for producing high quality chocolate. They have changed the way companies interact with the small cacao farmers by paying fair prices to farmers, who are also family businesses. Every business decision and action they take is grounded in respect for the environment, the local culture and the community.

Tasting fine chocolate is a multidimensional experience.  Guided by Carla and Santiago, we will learn the process of chocolate tasting and appreciate the different qualities and flavors, discover their origin and get a history lesson on cacao.  Don’t miss this experience!
