Barbara Hurt

Barbara is the Corporate Responsibility (CR) Manager at Brown-Forman (BF), beginning in this role in May 2015. Her work in CR is focused primarily on sustainability, including serving as the Executive Director for the DendriFund, the Brown Family and Brown-Forman foundation focused on grains, wood, and water - to steward healthy and vibrant communities, economies and ecosystems. At BF since 2007, Barbara has worked in multiple marketing roles across BF’s whiskey portfolio. As a fifth generation Brown family member, Barbara became involved with her family’s first governance efforts in 2002 and joined the Family Shareholder’s Committee in 2012.

She holds an MBA degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Arts in non-profit administration and certificate in art history from the University of Cincinnati where she graduated with honors. After completion of her undergraduate studies, Barbara worked in the non-profit sector in development and marketing roles and has served on a variety of boards since her early twenties. She moved back to Louisville in 2000 where she now lives with her husband, Andy, and son, Baxter.
